From Feb. 6 to Feb. 9, the Julius II Castle remains closed to the public due to untimely work on the power grid.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
The Castle of Julius II and the Ostia Excavations will also be open to the public according to the usual opening hours and ticketing on 8, 24, 26, 27 and 31 December, 1, 2 and 6 January 2023. The Necropolis of Isola Sacra, the archaeological area of Portus and the Museum of the Ships will also be open on 8, 24, 26 (closing 27 December) and 31 December, 1, 2 (closing 3 January) and 6 January. A closing day will be observed on 25 December.

As of 26 October 2022, the opening hours and methods of the Castle of Julius II in Ostia Antica will change, and new ticketing will come into force for all the Park's Places of Culture: new ticket offices at the Castle, Porto and the Museum of the Ships in Fiumicino, and a new ticket vending machine at the Necropolis of Isola Sacra

Every first Sunday of the month free entrance for Archaeological area of Ostia antica, Imperial harbours of Claudius and Trajan, Museum of Roman ships, Necropolis of Portus, Julius II Castle.

Professor Simon Keay passed away on Wednesday 7 April. Member of the Scientific Committee of the Park, he was a distinguished scholar of the ports of the ancient world and has dedicated many years of research to Portus.
